Did
You Know? The
Village of Holland was founded in 1847 when Robert Clark and his wife,
Sylvia Wentworth Clark constructed a log cabin on property comprising North
Holland. Mr. Clark established a brickyard, and built Holland's first place
of business in 1862. The site is now occupied by Springfield Hardware. In
1863, Mr. Clark platted part of North Holland. This area was named Hardy.
The name was changed to Holland in 1867. Today, Holland has a
population of 1,210 residents in the village and is governed by a mayor and
council. Holland is serviced by a full service police department and a
volunteer fire department with a class six fire insurance rating. Holland is located just
west of Toledo Ohio, US 23 and State Route 2, offering quick access to the
Ohio Turnpike and Interstate 75. Holland is six miles from Toledo Express
Airport and one hour from Detroit Metro Airport. This location, with the
economic incentives and development of the Holland Business Center, provides
an excellent opportunity for the location of new business. |
